Preface :
A few days back, during lunch time; I was listening to a wonderful TEDx talk about how we as humans have the natural tendency to look at the negatives and getting stuck in them. It was quite true and the speaker Miss Alison offered a simple technique on training to focus our mind on the positives in life – a gratitude journal or thinking of what made us happy that day !
Life is indeed cyclical and so are our days. During a day, we experience several highs and lows. I have tried to start a project for myself, where in I list down at least 5 things/ people/ incidents which made my day a “Happy” day and I’ve decided to call it “The Happyness Project (THP)”. Starting August 2nd, each day I will post a short synopsis of what made me happy that day and let the people behind that moment know that I treasure that moment. So, essentially; it is happyness, gratitude & thankfulness all practiced together. These posts will not be pinned to my blog home page but will be published under the menu “The Happyness Project”.
Today was a happy busy day, because :
- Waking up early on a weekend morning gives you so much more of the day to enjoy ! My day began at 7:30 AM courtesy to an errand, I had to attend to 🙂
- Morning walk for 50 minutes in the gentle sunlight which was a perfect start to the day. My brother accompanied me to collect some stuff sent from my parents
- Afternoon nap 😀 Such a rare luxury it is !
- Catch up over lunch with one of my seniors, who is a mentor to me. The lunch was sumptuous but our conversations on a variety of topics (more than the number of food items we were served) were the highlight
- The lunch reminded me of my friends – Nidhi & Dipu who I have to catch up with since long. I texted them that I missed our dinner @ Chappan Bhog & the fun times and talks. Immediately I got a text from them saying we will plan a dinner evening soon and whether I had some lunch on their behalf as well – this is REAL friendship ! 😀
- Created my profile on Sarahah – an app for anonymous feedback. The first message I received was a Hello from my Mom and some other interesting messages. The funny part was that though the messages were anonymous, I could easily know who the sender was except in 1- 2 cases. Thank you Fred, for the lovely message. Truly made me smile 🙂 You too, can leave me a message on my page : www.Himalis49.Sarahah.com
- Extra long evening walk by the Creek side – 17193 steps #yo!
- Prayer time @ Mandir & Gurudwara
- Talking over voice notes with my friend while walking – Idea should make me their brand ambassador for #WalkWhenYouTalk campaign 😛
- Making a new blogging friend – Dewin Nefol. I loved reading your poem and interacting with you. Namaste

How are you? Well I hope and coded for h-a-p-p-i-n-e-s-s
It seems your day was blessed with both friends and family as much sunshine, sleep, good food and opportunity for a new profile on Sarahah. A day such as this must have left you smiling? You are smiling, right? That good, I knew you would be.
Thank you Himali, I am touched by your kind sentiment…I loved writing the poem for you 🙂
Today wearing dimples and smile lines
I was a verdurous boy once more:
Brightly blazing with eyes wet gazing
Far beyond my desk and window glazing
Upon a jewel my heart met long ago
Once upon a time on the sand of a foreign shore…
~
Friendships are essential to us in a multitude of wonderful ways including those that can’t be verbalised only intuited or felt. From my experience true friendships are few but last a lifetime.
I am at a bit of a loss with time zones but if in bidding thee either a good morning, a good day, a good evening, or good night doesn’t cater for all parts of 24 hours, then perhaps, ‘au revoir’ will suffice 🙂
Take care of one and all in all ways for always.
‘Nos da’ Namaste 🙂

Hello DN,
It is 11:08 PM in my city as I write this comment. In which city do you reside in ? I had a blessed day, thank you. And I smiled a lot too 🙂 Again, I loved the picture you painted about the boy gazing outside the window. Truly beautiful. Wish you too Au Revoir 😇
Cheers!

Good evening Himali 🙂
Late is the hour for you and perhaps also close to the time when the Sandman carries you gently to the Land of Zzzzz 🙂 so I’ll bid thee Nos da, sweet dreams in case you are asleep before the end of this comment 🙂
I live in the south west of Wales, UK. I am not a Welshman by birth but an Englishman and Wales has been my adopted home for nearly 12 years. It has a beautiful landscape, rich and green, vibrant windswept and hilly. In parts so beautiful, angels sing. Have you ever travelled to the UK Himali?
It would appear you are 3 or 4 hours ahead of UK time. That should be easy enough for to remember but by tomorrow I would have forgotten already.
You smiled a loo? 🙂 As did I watching the boy. There were so many things I wanted to ask him about what he saw that made him smile so. Perhaps he’ll be there again tomorrow and I’ll ask him then, no doubt he’ll still be smiling.
Good night Himali. Sleep well.
Namaste 🙂

P.S: Please forgive my typo’s. I just cannot tame the loveable cat that strolls the keyboard creating havoc with my spelling. Thank you 🙂

Haha.. I can understand. Even my autocorrect gives me a tough time. Hello to your cat from my end 😸

Hey Himali,
Then I am grateful not to be alone in my erring 🙂 Thank you.
However I was speaking metaphorically about the keyboard-cat rather than referencing a real pet per se. Sadly I don’t own a cat, I wish that I did but remain catless at this time and my wish confined to a moulded statue of Bastet. I have her sat next to the P.C screen where she gazes lovingly at me. She is beautiful on the eye: sleek with chic and dark rosewood mystique and carries a scarab beetle on her collar. She purrs when she says ‘hello.’ I love her being here with me for company.
And you Himali, do you have pets?
Namaste 🙂

Haha, I am so sorry I couldn’t get the context. I like the metaphors and smilies and all other figures of speech. Heloo to the lovely cat who purrs at you.
Unfortunately, I do not have any pets. I’d love to have a pet dog some day 🙂

Hey Himali 🙂
That’s very sweet of you, thank you. 🙂
No pets? Then we are both bereft of writer’s familiars, which seems a shame, don’t you think? Perhaps the dog you wish to own some day will find you? What breed would you enjoy owning as a pet? And why? 🙂
My Bastet statue smiles at mention of her name. I think she likes you Himali: she approves lol 🙂 The Hermes bust sat next to her looks equally impressed as to the brass pixies, the monk figures and the leprechaun on his marble plinth. At some point I’ll tell you more about them, but for now it is late and I a sleepy Snow Leopard in need of a little cat-nap 🙂
Hoping you slept well and dreamt in colour. Brightest Blessings for a wonderful Sunday abundant with all you could ever hope for and far more besides.
Namaste 🙂

Haven’t really though so much about which breed, I think I’d be very happy even if he/she is a street dog but reciprocates my love. Isn’t that the most important !
Cheers 🙂

Hey Himali, Namaste 🙂
Yes, that is a very sweet and inspired sentiment and of course most true. Our pets love us unconditionally and they deserve to receive the best of us in return…that is the language of Love, right? 🙂
I grew up with cats always in the family home – hence I am a predominantly a cat lover at heart, although I have had ‘ownership’ of two dogs: one a ‘borrowed dog from the neighbour’ that i took the pleasure of looking after for 4 months whilst on summer recess from university. Prior to that I owned a Samoyed, a white long haired husky-type breed. He was called Ice lol 🙂 Small world isn’t it when synchronicity, coincidence leave thoughts as smiles 🙂
Sleep well Himali in Love’s sweet embrace. Nos da
Namaste 🙂

Hello DN,
Namaste
Well, I’ve not travelled to UK but I’ve seen a bit of your country in the movies. I have seen the beautiful green countryside and the lush landscapes. You are lucky to be surrounded by such beauty 🙂
Cheers !

Hey Himai,
Then one day you must travel and enjoy the reality of a vista existing beyond celluloid and digital media. You will be spellbound in he same way as all those who visit the jewel of India are spellbound by beauty. We are both lucky to experience beauty in our lives and to wonder at the splendour of beauty, of Her, unfolding around us. Mother Nature’s crown is adorned with many gemstones and each is exquisite, cut to perfection.

As do I Himali hope we get chance to journey, explore and adventure our world. Life is to short not to enjoy at least some of the magic to be found in abundance all around us, and to share in the experience of that Love 🙂
Of all the beautiful places you may want to visit in the world, which one place would you save to visit until last? 🙂
Namaste 🙂

The world is your oyster – some one once said this to me. I wish you the same !
I’d save to visit for the last the breathtaking Himalayan mountains which inspired my name as with that beautiful view, I’d want to breathe my last 🙂

The world is indeed our oyster and continues to be so long long after we find the pearl we’ve always been looking for waiting to be found upon the sand of a windswept foreign shore 😉
I want to be there with you in the Himalaya’s when you breathe your last breath. We can sit together on the roof of the world when first light rises at the beginning of your never-ending day. That way we’d never have to say goodbye.
Sweet dreams Himal.. Sleep well.
Namaste 🙂

I totally get the logic of waking up early, and when I do, it’s exactly like you described. I marvel at the day, the sunrise, the day just feels longer, in a good way. But I’m such a night owl that I avoid getting up early unless I absolutely had to. Funny thing is, when I lived with my brother I was always up early, because I just fell into his routine. And it felt great.

Same with me. These days I’m making a point to wake up early and get more of the day than being lazyyy 😀 I also struggled to wake up early while I was living alone. I guess having company helps to also big extent 🙂

Yes, having commitments and being a guest / having a guest / living with someone who has to get out earlier, or at least early.
