A Dedication on Teachers Day

Behind every dream I saw,
There was an unwavering belief..

Behind every wise decisions I took,
There was a learning & a lesson..

Behind every success I cherished,
There was you, my ever inspiring teacher..

One of my most favourite quotes from the book Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom

Today on this special day, I would like to thank you for believing in me and my dreams, for creating the strong foundations on which I have built my life on, for giving me wings and for pushing me off the cliff when I was afraid to fly; all of it with never ending love and patience. I may not have come to you every time I succeeded, but I knew that you had my back, anytime I’d falter. Thank you for your love, knowledge and inspiration which has made me who I am today !

Let us take time out to say a thank you to every person who has been a teacher to us in this journey of life. Be it our teachers at school, professors at university, our parents – who are the first teachers to us, our friends and family.

You my dear reader, are also a teacher to me. You inspire me to write and writing does to me what the rains does to the dusty glasses. Thank you for reading along and all the inspiration you give me in all forms !

Much love,
Himali Shah ❤

Teachers Day-Decoding Happyness

Conditions Apply ?

Life doesn’t come with a “conditions apply” tag or guarantees. We do not know what life will serve in its platter in the next 5 minutes or what we will be like over the years to come. Yet we never question life. Why ? Because we have faith. Because we trust. We trust life. We trust the supreme creator, some call him God. We take life as it is, as it comes, the atrocities and the hardships as well as the joys and happiness. At times we feel disappointed, but that doesn’t mean that we give up. We persist. Because we know that life has its booms and recessionary phases. At times life is a beautiful sunny day and at other times, we are walking in the dessert sand guided by the dim moonlight !

Conditions Apply Himali Shah

So it is with love. But why do we fail to understand this ? Just as life, love comes with no guarantees, there is no guarantee that the person you love so unconditionally, will ever feel the same way for you. You can not attach conditions to love saying that you will love if your conditions are fulfilled. Love is a form of trust. A form of surrender to the person you love. Love is unconditional. Love is not because, it is despite. Love is not merely about a lover. It is the love of parents, a friend, a child, a teacher, a neighbor, a pet or a stranger at times. Love doesn’t question. Love doesn’t ask for anything in return. Love only gives without expecting anything in return. True love is when you see the glimpse of the almighty in another soul, as it is well said :

“Tu hi to jannat meri, tu hi dil ka sukun,
Tujme rab dikhta hai, yaara mein kya karu”.

“You are my heaven, you are my heart’s content,

I see God’s reflection in you, my love”

Love without questions, inhibitions, demands or conditions. Then you will never need to find love. Love will find you. It will engulf you in its ocean till you are submerged. Till your heart overflows with love, care and compassion for every living being, after all we all are a reflection of God.

Himzz Twilight

Blissfully aware of the dark side,
Of your moon, my love,
I am falling deep,
Deep in the steep valleys of your love..

Blissfully aware of the venom,
Which can sap the life away,
From my fragile human soul..

Without You…

images (1)

Without you, my world is,
Like a boat lost amidst the giant stormy ocean..

The fragrance of the flowers,
The melody of the koyal, fail touch my heart..

You were the lyrics of the song,
My heart sang all day and night..

With you gone, there is no one to listen,
To my poems and talks nonstop..

There is no one to call me all the cute names,
There’s no one to call me a sleepy head on Sundays..

Where are you gone my love ?
Come back soon..

The Shining Star

Man showing milky way to little boy, telescope

The people around her,
Were the world to her tiny eyes..

She smiled and rejoiced,
But they held hatred in their eyes..

Her little eyes were filled with wonder,
As to what wrong had she done ?

Was it such a crime,
Being born as a girl ?

Then a man held her close to his heart,
She could feel his heart, beating with joy..

“My princess” he’d address her,
And she’d laugh serene..

Believe IN Me

Believe Me  . . . NO –  Believe IN Me

Picture1

There are some things in life, which are so much identical, that there is merely a thin line of distinction between them. Yet, I believe, it is this thin line of difference, which makes all the difference.

You meet two kinds of people in life. First are the ones who “Believe You” and second are the ones who “Believe IN You”. The first kind of people are found in abundance like empty oyster shells. They love you and trust you; but again, that comes with a tag with a caution line written in the tiniest font size: “Conditions Apply”. Yes, their trust is conditional and can be shaken or uprooted easily with winds of misunderstanding or miscommunication. They will listen to the world and look for evidence. They will go with the flow and what their eyes see and ears listen about you. When fingers are pointed towards you, they will silently leave your side and join the crowd to accuse you. Yes, they do believe you; but it is only when you give them “explanations” and “evidences”. Continue reading
